PUBLIC EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Oyster Point Harbor Patrol has introduced a new public education program. This program is available to schools and community groups for the promotion of Boating and Water Safety. The Oyster Point Harbor Patrol is a group of dedicated water safety professionals that have identified a need to reach out to the community, to educate individuals, both young and old, of the enjoyment offered by water recreation and the potential hazards associated with playing in and on the water. The school program has been developed for the kindergarten through eight grade students; introducing them to water safety, beach safety (rip currents, erosion, and environmental impacts), water pollution, and boating safety. This general program runs up to forty-five minutes, is designed to be interactive with the students, including props (non pun intended) and a multimedia presentation. School programs are available for presentation at Oyster Point Marina or at your school. Other public outreach and educational programs are available for community needs. For more information contact Deputy Harbormaster Greg Gubser at (650) 871-7344 or Harbor Master Robert Johnson at (650) 952-0808. Return to top.
PERSONAL WATERCRAFT (PWC) PROGRAM
American Honda Motor Co. has once again sponsored Oyster Point Marina/Park Personal Watercraft Program. Through a one year low cost lease, the Oyster Point Harbor Patrol will be able to continue a program initiated one year ago.
The watercraft are used for public education of vessel safety and operation, homeland security patrols in support of United States Coast Guard, special event patrol and participation, and shallow water search and rescue. The Patrol Staff have been trained and maintain a level of proficiency for safe and effective use of the vessels in the most adverse of conditions. Our thanks are given to American Honda Motor Co. for their ongoing support for this program.
