District Dredges West Basin:
The West Basin dredging project is completed. Salt River Construction dredged 78,000 cubic yards of material in 64 days without incident, an impressive accomplishment. The entire West Basin is now at eight feet depth. All tenants' vessels have been returned to their slips successfully.

Oyster Point Marina Ferries:
The Water Transit Authority (WTA) design team of ROMA and Moffatt & Nichol Engineers is developing its ferry terminal design, working closely with the Harbor District's administrative and Oyster Point staff, to design the terminal, circulation and parking improvements. The terminal will be on pilings and floats, off the landfill in Oyster Point's East Basin. Existing Docks 9 and 10 will be removed, and boats now berthed there will be relocated elsewhere in the marina. Terminal plans are almost finished and construction is anticipated for 2008.
With the Governor's signature of Senate Bill 976, the WTA will be replaced by the new Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA). The WETA will have expanded authority to do disaster and emergency planning and operations, to operate other Bay Area ferry services including taking over those of Vallejo and Alameda, will received $250 million in new bond funds, and will have a new five member governing board appointed by the Governor (3), the Senate Rules Committee, and the Speaker of the Assembly.
The Water Transit Authority is now providing the County Transportation Authority with technical information needed to enable the County agency to transfer the Measure A water transit allocation to the City of South San Francisco so that construction can proceed.

Breakwater:
The Army Corps of Engineers has completed its pre-construction design and engineering phase of this project. The project is essential to enable the WTA's ferries to operate safely and quickly at Oyster Point. With a new entrance design completed, the Corps will begin construction in March 2008.
