The San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA) has signed a lease with the Harbor District and the City of South San Francisco, with approval of the State Dept. of Boating and Waterways, to build its ferry terminal at Oyster Point Marina. WETA has started removing docs and berths as part of the first phase of construction. Dredging the terminal basis and channel to ten feet will follow.
The terminal will have slips for two vessels, which will be 149-passenger state-of-the-art boats that will provide significant environmental improvements including reduced air emissions, fuel economy, and low wake and wash to minimize impacts on aquatic habitats and passing small vessels. The trip between Oyster Point and Oakland's Jack London Square will take approximately 30 minutes.
